Our Pillars
-
Mentorship
College students across varying disciplines of study are paired with high school students who have experienced limited or interrupted former education. Mentors are paired with their mentees based on common areas of interest. Mentors and mentees meet once a week for an hour to focus on the three areas of our mentorship model -promoting higher education through accessibility, English as a second language and social and cultural navigation
-
Health Promotion
Providing health care accessibility through education and knowledge regarding how to navigate the American health care system. Refugee adolescents serve as brokers between their family and the health care system due to a multifaceted system of barriers including language. Projects will include basic health literacy programming to improve functional and comprehensive health literacy and a health champions program where refugee high school students can become health navigators/advocates for their communities
-
Scholarship
We believe every refugee student has a right to an education. With less than 1% of refugee youth pursuing higher education it is vital that we support education accessibility by providing academic scholarships
